About

I See You Like This was a participatory portrait project that invited children to show how they see the important adults in their lives. Instead of drawing or painting a traditional portrait, children created temporary artworks directly onto the faces of their parents and carers, using playful and unexpected materials to transform them into living canvases.

My role was to capture the final portraits with sensitivity, clarity and a strong visual identity, allowing each family’s moment of transformation to feel both theatrical and tender. The images celebrate the joyful unpredictability of children’s imagination, while also offering a touching reflection on family, identity and being truly seen.

Exhibit

The finished portraits were exhibited in the Crucible Foyer on Saturday 2 August, alongside a participatory session where families could create their own portraits. The project was surprising, original and genuinely beautiful. a celebration of connection, creativity and the wonderfully strange ways children see the adults who care for them.
